Port forwarding

Port forwarding is a technique for directing requests from the internet (WAN) to a particular device on the local area network (LAN) side of the (ADSL) router. this means that a number of meters with individual IP addresses on the Local Area Network can be accessed from the internet with a url similar to http://123.456.789.1:8080 where 8080 is the port number. the CubeIP supports the following port numbers.

	80 Standard default http port
	81 Alternative http port
	8000 Alternative http port
	8008 Alternative http port
	8080 Alternative http port

The CubeIP meter always makes these ports available, no configuration of the meter is necessary.

The router will normally have configuration menus shown as Port Forwarding or Games and Application sharing. It may be necessary to create or define a new application for the required ports before assigning them. Consult the Router documentation before attempting any changes.

Port 69 (tftpi) will need to be forwarded to any one meter to save and restore configurations during commissioning but will not be required at all in normal use.

Port 502 will need to be forwarded if modbusi TCP/IP communications are to be used.
